How to Perform Like an Elite Athlete.

Maybe you’re currently a competitive athlete. Maybe you used to be a competitive athlete. Maybe you’re an everyday athlete. Maybe you’re not a competitive athlete, but you’re a competitor in the workplace. Either way,

How would you upgrade your current routines if you were training to be an elite athlete?

Your priorities would shift. Your priorities would involve upgrading the number of hours of sleep you get, plus enhancing sleep quality. You would prioritize nutrition, and make sure you’re eating enough & fueling consistently to optimize performance goals. You’d be hydrating well. You’d be minimizing stress and staying focused on your end goal. You would be working a training schedule. You’d be evolving your training each week as you progress toward a competitive event. You’d be working on mindset training & visualization.

If you were to upgrade your life & well-being today, what would you do differently?

You’d start by focusing on the same exact foundations that are mentioned above!

TRUTH IS - YOU ARE AN ATHLETE.

You may not be currently training for a specific sport or specific event, but you are human. You are an animal. Humans by default, are athletes.

See? It’s not just me telling you this. 

So let’s think about the elements that were mentioned above: sleep, physical training (movement), stress mitigation, nutrition, hydration, mindset training.

Guess what these are also the key foundations of?

PHYSICAL HEALTH & WELLNESS. These are the core foundations of overall health & wellness and are activities we should be focusing on not only overall wellness, but in order to perform our best in good ol’ everyday life. EVERY DAY LIFE. Even the most basic existence requires these foundations for optimized HEALTH. For PREVENTATIVE health. Meds or health upgrades to core foundations?

You decide.

Our bodies are biological machines that require hydration & fuel for our cells to operate their best & facilitate healthy brain, organ, & hormonal function, in addition to helping us with specific goals such as muscle growth and fat loss. A body in motion stays in motion – you need to move to perform your best – mentally & physically. It has been demonstrated time and time again how regular physical activity improves mental clarity, mental performance, and emotional well-being. The act of movement itself releases feel good chemicals in the brain which enhance mood. You need to invest time into upgrading your mental game & keep yourself for falling backwards into “familiar” routines that have been truly unhelpful for your health and overall wellness. You need good quality sleep to help your brain & body recover after easy days, & intense days. 

 

All of these investments and actions help you feel your best and operate your best no matter if it is an easy day at home with the family, in the boardroom negotiating deals, creating content, or showing up at the gym or on a run.

 

So today, Strong. Beautiful. Athlete., my question is this:

Regardless of whether you are a competitive athlete or an everyday human with no athletic pursuits on the horizon,

  • Hydration. It drives cellular performance for EVERYTHING.

  • Sleep. You will never operate your best if you don’t dial this in.

  • Mindset. Your mind is powerful - teach it to help you, & not hold you back.
